What is Cranial Sacral Therapy?
Cranial Sacral Therapy is a gently, hands-on approach to bodywork. It focuses on the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum, along with the underlying structures.
The goal of cranial sacral therapy is to release tensions in the tissue that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord, thus providing an optimal working environment for the central nervous system. This can in turn result in a positive impact for all other systems of the body.
As a therapist my main objective of this work is to find and release tensions in the cranial sacral system and gently use specifically designed non-intrusive techniques to release these areas.
Cranial Sacral Therapy can be used alone or incorporated with other bodywork. Listed below are a few of the symptoms/conditions for which Cranial Sacral Therapy is useful. More will be discussed with the progression of the course.
- Chronic pain, especially in the neck and back
- Headaches (tension, migraine, cluster)
- TMJ dysfunction
- Emotional trauma
- Auditory problems
- Stress-related dysfunctions
- Colic, inner ear problems, or learning/behavioral disorders in infants and children
Cranial Sacral Therapy works with a physical system, applying subtle pressure in a very precise manner, to encourage results favorable to the body.
