Yellow-bellied Marmot

Yellow-bellied Marmot:
Yellow-bellied marmots are one of the largest rodents in Yellowstone and are found in rocky terrain throughout the park. Marmots are often seen sunning themselves and feeding on grasses and insects in areas where protection is close at hand. Colonies of marmots consist of one male, several females and their offspring. Marmots may whistle, scream and chatter in an effort to warn their colony of danger or to defend territory.
